Uncover charming Peyia

This is a laid back little gem of a village, away from the bustling crowds but less than 5 km from one of Cyprus’s best beaches, Coral Bay, where long stretches of golden sand are stroked by the sun and the gentle waves lapping its shores.

Pretty whitewashed houses nestle on the mountainside above the glittering waters of the Mediterranean, looking across at the peaks of the untouched beauty of the Akamas Peninsular.

At night, the town comes awake when the local tavernas open their doors and delicious smells from hot ovens fill the evening air as people gather at the tables laid out along the street for a late supper and animated conversations with friends and neighbours.

Take a look at the properties we have for sale here and see just how much you can get for your money in this enchanting place.

Reasons to choose Peyia

  • Reason One: Ideal location, away from throngs of tourists yet close to Coral Bay, one of the nicest beaches in Cyprus.
  • Reason Two: A relaxing, laid back place to live, away from the usual stresses of life and living as part of a real community.
  • Reason Three: More sunny days each year means freedom from winter blues and no more horrid winter fuel bills.
  • Reason Four: Lots to see and do along this stretch of coast and up into the mountains.
  • Reason Five: Masa promises the lowest prices and handpicks a selection of properties to suit your budget, so you get the property you want at the right price.

Experience this relaxed, laid back way of life yourself for a few days when you come here on an area and property tour.

From the mountain to the sea

While away a relaxing afternoon with a plateful of meze and a cold bottle of beer as the world goes on beside you. Later on, drive along to Coral Bay to lie on soft sand, reading a good book while the sun toasts your skin; cooling down with a swim before heading back to your enchanting little house on the hill.

Next day spend a day exploring more of this western side of Cyprus, taking in the spectacular landscapes of the Akamas Peninsular with its deserted beaches and conservation projects.

All you need

On the hillside at Ayios Yeoryios you can visit the 6th century basilica and light a candle to see if your love is going to be requited by holding it upside down, if the flame goes out – sadly, your love may not be returned.

Back in Peyia, you can get everything you need for supper and food next day on the main road into the village, where you’ll find coffee shops, grocers, chemist, bakery, butchers, tavernas and bars.

Things to do in and around Peyia

  • Explore the wild, untouched landscapes of the Akamas Peninsular.
  • Buy freshly baked hot bread from the bakers in the village early in the morning and see if you can make it last until lunchtime.
  • Just enjoy the peace and quiet of the village, taking in the views and breathing in the fresh mountain air.
  • Endless days spent enjoying the lovely sands and waters at Coral Bay.
  • Drive to Paphos to see the Tombs of the Kings and the incredible mosaics at the House of Dionysos.

Quick Fact: Villagers at Peyia wear the typical, traditional baggy pants (vraka) and knee high boots.

Quick Tip: If you go to the Akamas Pensinular, there are not many facilities there so be sure to take enough sun lotion to protect your skin and plenty of water to drink.
