Airline launches new Cyprus flights

Leisure travellers in the West Midlands will soon be able to benefit from improved access to Cyprus.

According to Monarch, direct services between Birmingham Airport and Larnaca will begin operating in the March.

The twice-weekly route represents a further boost to the accessibility of the Mediterranean island.

As a result, it is likely that it will attract strong interest from holidaymakers and overseas property buyers during 2009.

Commenting on the move, Liz Savage of Monarch said: "I am sure that the people of the Midlands will warmly welcome the introduction of this service."

Meanwhile, low-cost airline easyJet has revealed that it transported 4.5 million people across the globe last month.

This is 20 per cent up on the amount recorded during July 2007.

The announcement coincided with the news that Ryanair has seen a 19 per cent increase in passenger numbers during the same period.
