British Airways offers new Cyprus route

British Airways is to expand its presence in Cyprus by launching flights to Paphos later this year.

The carrier will offer passage to the region from London's Gatwick Airport every day from the beginning of July.

These will serve to complement its existing range of services to the Mediterranean island and potentially boost its tourist trade.

By making Cyprus more easily accessible to consumers in the UK, the country may also attract more interest from foreign property buyers.

Commenting on the move, Marianna Trokoudes of British Airways commented: "The opening of our full service mainline flights between Paphos and London Gatwick demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the Cyprus market."

She added that the new flights offered "tremendous flexibility" and convenience to people travelling between the two countries.

This comes after easyJet announced that it would take over the services currently operated by GB Airways in March as part of its takeover of the airline.
