Cypriots optimistic about the euro

People in Cyprus are optimistic about the future impact of the euro, a new survey has revealed.
Research by the island's central bank found that the majority of people on the island believed the new currency would have a positive impact on the economy, reports the Cyprus Mail.
The study also showed that most of the country's population had adjusted to using the euro in transactions, with eight in ten people saying they had got used to the new tender.
However, 55 per cent of respondents said they still thought about the cost of any purchases in the old currency.
One in four people spent money with both currencies in mind, while the euro was only considered by itself by just one in five people.
The release of the findings comes just after the deadline for dual circulation of euros and pounds passed, although people with leftover notes and coins still have several months in which to get their money converted.
