Cyprus airports see increased passenger numbers
Tuesday December 18th , 2007

The number of people passing through airports in Cyprus has increased this year, according to new figures.
Research by airport operator Hermes showed that during the first 11 months of the year, more than six million passengers passed through the portals at Paphos and Larnaca.
Speaking to the Cyprus Mail, marketing director Jenni Fernando said this meant it was on track to reach its overall target of seven million for 2007.
She commented: "This sets Cyprus on course to see a new record.
"We are very satisfied with what we observed for the month of November," she added.
According to the organisation, the previous record was achieved in 2005, when the two airports handled almost 6.8 million passengers.
Hermes said that since this figure has already been beaten this year, the final number for 2007 as a whole will be a record amount.
The figures come only weeks ahead of Cyprus' adoption of the euro.
