Four man-made marinas are being constructed in Cyprus in a bid to boost the country's tourism appeal, it has been reported.
The Cypriot government intends to lengthen its tourist season and attract upmarket visitors by granting planning permission for the marinas in its main resort town if Limassol, according to Property Wire.
Work will begin in early 2009, and Limassol Marina and its adorning artificial island will be up and running by 2013.
The report stated the marina will have 1,000 berths available with 400 connected to the mainland while 600 will be on the island.
It will also feature a number of properties, entertainment facilities and boating services.
Martin Pearce, UK Sales Director of Aristo Developers a leading property developer on the island, told the publication the size of the project is "amazing".
"Other popular towns such as Paphos and Ayia Napa will all have similar features and will provide better accessibility for skippers wanting to explore the island," he added.
Meanwhile, shelteroffshore.com reported this week that Cyprus is the cheapest place to retire abroad.
International Property Awards in association with Google and Bloomberg Television have awarded MASA Internaitonal the Best Estate Agency in Spain award.
