Cyprus tourist sector sees growth
Thursday January 17th , 2008

The number of people choosing to visit Cyprus went up last month, new figures have revealed.
Official data cited by the Financial Mirror showed that during December 2007, the number of foreign arrivals was 3.8 per cent higher than the figure recorded a year earlier.
Whereas the number of incoming passengers was 71,022 in December 2006, almost 74,000 people arrived 12 months later.
This means that on a year-by-year basis, the overall number of visitors to Cyprus in 2007 went up by 0.6 per cent to 2.4 million.
Many of these people were found to be from other European counties, including Greece, Germany and the UK.
Meanwhile, a 10.6 per cent increase in the number of Russian visitors was also identified.
This will be positive news for the rental sector in Cyprus, which was said to be "booming" by property author David Peters earlier this week.
