New casino proposal for Cyprus

Owners of property in Cyprus may soon enjoy the benefits of a new casino, according to local reports.

The island's airport operator, Hermes, is said to be considering a development which could attract new visitors and property investors to the country.

Hermes chairman Nicos Shacolas has reportedly written a proposal to the island's house commerce committee describing possible designs for a new casino.

A number of groups have recently called for more casinos to be introduced in Cyprus but the government has not been able to reach any unanimous decision.

Larnaca airport, which Hermes owns, has relocated to a different building, leaving empty space for a potential planning development.

However, it is unclear whether this site would be used if a new casino construction were to go ahead.

Travel website Property Index recently revealed that Cyprus is still a popular destination for foreign investors.ADNFCR-1210-ID-19102725-ADNFCR
