
Northern Cyprus, frequently overlooked in favour of its southern neighbour, offers beautiful landscapes, unspoiled beaches and affordable property, it has been claimed.
According to the Daily Mail, prices in the region are around half as much as those in southern Cyprus for comparable properties, due to the north still trading in Turkish lira.
Nick Bointon, from Llandovery, west Wales, told the newspaper he had been considering buying a property in the south to start his holiday business but decided to take a day trip up north to explore.
He said: "We were enchanted. It's a very unspoilt place."
Close to the town of Farmagusta is the seaside resort of Bogaz, where a third of homes at the new Palms development have been sold to British and Irish buyers.
The resort will eventually have a nine-hole golf course, tennis courts and restaurants, while prices start from £65,193 for a one-bedroom apartment.
Buyers can also purchase five-bedroom villas set in one-third of an acre plots with pools and roof terraces for £240,000.

Don and Christine Stark bought their home after a friend recommended they take a holiday on the popular island, the Sunday Mail reports.
