People living in Turkey and Spain are still enjoying significantly cheaper retail costs than the UK, a new survey reveals.
Thomas Cook's annual Holiday Cost of Living survey suggests that a weak pound-to-euro conversion rate is not affecting costs too much.
By comparing prices between 16 global tourist destinations, the company's research also shows that flights are typically more cost-effective than expensive rail travel in the UK.
Positioned outside the eurozone, Turkey performs well in the survey, with a three-course meal costing an average of £13.50, as opposed to £22.15 in the UK.
European countries like mainland Spain and Cyprus also prove cheaper when it comes to daily expenditure.
Thomas Cook is the second largest leisure travel group in the UK, employing around 19,000 people.
International Property Awards in association with Google and Bloomberg Television have awarded MASA Internaitonal the Best Estate Agency in Spain award.
