The Italian property market will be just fine in 2009, according to a property specialist firm.
InCalabria, which specialises in property in Southern Italy, has said the company has experienced a "very busy year" in the region of Calabria and is adding to its portfolio to prepare for an increased demand in 2009.
Dennis Onstenk, director of InCalabria, stated that the area is set apart due to its "good weather", attractive coastline and "strong rental potential", which would encourage people looking to invest in property in Italy.
He added: "There aren't many places in the world left where you can buy a true beach-front property for less than half the price of an average house in the UK."
Italy was recently voted the best European destination in the Daily Telegraph's annual travel awards.
The awards, voted for by readers of the newspaper, also named the Hotel Cavalieri in Rome as the best city hotel in Europe.
International Property Awards in association with Google and Bloomberg Television have awarded MASA Internaitonal the Best Estate Agency in Spain award.
