The number of mortgages approved on Spanish properties increased in February for the third consecutive month, new figures reveal.
Official statistics from the Spanish government show that the year-on-year decline in mortgage activity also slowed, falling from 37 per cent to 28 per cent.
The news has been welcomed by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics).
However, the group also suggests that it is still too early to forecast whether a major recovery is taking place in the Spain property market.
Rics commented that it believes that mortgage demand "will remain under pressure" but that the mortgage figures do provide "better news".
Additionally, the institution claims the recovery process still has further to run and may not fully arrive until the middle of next year.
The Spain property figures follow news that the slump in the British housing sector may also be slowing.
International Property Awards in association with Google and Bloomberg Television have awarded MASA Internaitonal the Best Estate Agency in Spain award.
