Turkey's global position and strong transport links are making it a popular destination for tourists and property buyers, a new report claims.
A study by the global industry research firm RNCOS suggests the country enjoyed 12.5 per cent tourism growth in 2008, with 26.2 million visitors making the most of its "strategic location".
Foreign tourists and owners of property in Turkey benefit from good airline connections to and from nearby areas of Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East, the report also claims.
The RNCOS findings are based on elements including tourist arrivals into Turkey, expenditure in hotels and restaurants and the average disposable income of Turkish residents.
Formed in 2002, RNCOS offers market research and information analysis to global companies.
The company's research follows figures from the real estate website PropertyIndex.com, which recently revealed that online searches for Turkish property increased by 286 per cent in the last year.
International Property Awards in association with Google and Bloomberg Television have awarded MASA Internaitonal the Best Estate Agency in Spain award.
