Airline expands Italian flights

Tourists and people living in Italy will be soon be able to enjoy more flights in and around the country, with the opening of three new Ryanair bases.

In adding these bases to its existing Italian presence, Ryanair will now offer a total of 67 domestic and international flights, supporting 4,000 Italian jobs and catering for more than four million passengers.

The new bases have opened in Alghero, Bologna and Caligiari with each housing two aircraft.

Stephen McNamara from Ryanair says: "Ryanair's continued expansion in Italy during a time of economic recession shows the benefit of competition and low fares in Italy."

He adds that the airline expects to carry more than 17 million passengers to and from Italy this year, sustaining 17,000 jobs in total.

Originally formed in 1985, Ryanair operates more than 830 budget routes, covering 26 European countries.ADNFCR-1210-ID-19100086-ADNFCR
