Overseas property buyers have been urged to research their chosen market before committing to a purchase.
Scottish newspaper the Press and Journal said a growing number of people in the UK are thinking of investing in a foreign residence.
This has prompted it to suggest that prospective investors find out as much as they can about their destination of choice
The publication said information could be found from a number of sources, such as the internet, the press and property exhibitions.
However, it suggested that people make sure they use good-quality sources in order to ensure that the data is accurate and up-to-date.
The Press and Journal commented: "Research your chosen destination carefully before visiting."
People were also advised to make the most of an inspection trips by planning any viewings in advance.
The newspaper said pre-arranging a viewing would help them to avoid wasting time while overseas.
This follows advice from Simon Conn of Conti Financial Services, who told the Daily Mail that overseas property buyers should not to let their excitement cloud their judgement when making a purchase.
