Expats advised to learn language

Foreign property buyers who are seeking permanent residency in their new home have been advised to learn the local language.
According to ShelterOffshore.com, expatriates who live in a non-English speaking nation will benefit more if they learn some of the native tongue.
The website said knowing a few key phrases would enable foreigners to assimilate and interact with local people.
"If you're going to be living in a country where the mother tongue is not English, get a basic grounding in the language before you move," it advised.
The website added that finding out about local customs, traditions and cultural requirements would also help people to fit in.
Expatriates were encouraged to find out what is expected of them before they commit to a move.
This comes after the Telegraph stated that the growing desire to live abroad among many British people is showing no signs of abating.
