High-end Italian market 'buoyant'

The upper end of Italy's property market remains healthy, despite the economic downturn, it has been claimed.

Casa Travella's Linda Travella, an expert on Italian sales and purchase for 22 years, said this area of property is one of the most "buoyant" in the country.

"Amidst a very turbulent economy, it is interesting to note that in general the high end of the property market continues to do well.

"Clients know that January is a good time to buy in normal economic conditions as not many people view and vendors are more likely to accept offers," she remarked.

She added that many clients see such properties as an "excellent opportunity" for investment, given interest rates at banks are at an all-time low.

The De Tullio law firm recently advised would-be buyers that there are three stages to purchasing a home in Italy – the reservation offer, preliminary contract and deed of sale.
