Investors buy in Italian ski resorts

Overseas property investors are increasingly buying rental accommodation in Italian ski resorts, experts have revealed.

According to currency specialist HiFX, the country is becoming very popular with buyers who wish to cash in on the popularity of winter sports.

Ski chalets were said to be in particularly high demand between January and March.

However, the organisation has stated that investors could potentially get a better deal if they delay buying a property until later in the year.

Mark Bodega, director at HiFX, commented: "It is important for buyers to check out homes in the summer months and see what was covered up by the snow."

He added that prices could also be up to ten per cent cheaper in the summer than at the start of the year.

Italy was recently found to be one of Britons' top five overseas property destinations by A Place in the Sun magazine.
