Investors 'should consider Calabria'
Monday October 15th , 2007

Rising property values in the Italian province of Calabria could make the region a good investment spot, according to a report.
Irish newspaper the Mayo Advertiser said that in the last 12 months, prices in the region have risen by about 40 per cent.
The publication went on to highlight many of the other attractive features of the region, such as the availability of property close to the sea, as well as local planning regulations.
Rules preventing the construction of overly large buildings were cited and praised by the newspaper, as they helped to prevent urban sprawl and allowed the region to stay authentically Italian.
The Mayo Advertiser added that that recent market trends in Calabria had taken overseas property buyers "by storm", making it an "attractive proposition for many.
"Both Irish and English investors are looking to invest in this part of Italy," the publication added.
This comes after the Calabria-based Piccola Universita Italiana praised the province's natural beauty, including its "unspoilt" landscape and "deep blue" sea.
