Italian tourist market 'enjoying a renaissance'

Italy is currently attracting a considerable number of German holidaymakers, according to a media outlet.

The Earth Times revealed that more than nine million people from Germany chose to visit its fellow European country last year.

Commenting on this development, the news provider said it was clear that Italy's holiday industry was enjoying a "renaissance".

This is a positive development for the country's economy and shows that recent efforts to promote it overseas have paid off.

The Earth Times said that the Italian tourist board spent about £3 million on marketing overseas during 2007.

Furthermore, this also means that many owners of rental property in popular Italian holiday destinations will be seeing higher occupancy rates.

This means that they will be collecting a greater amount in rental yields, while the demand could push up the value of their house.

Italy was recently found to be one of Britons' top five overseas property destinations by A Place in the Sun magazine.
