Wednesday November 21st , 2007

Overseas property investors in Italy may be set to benefit from the country's growing tourist market.
According to Federica Durica of the Italian tourist office, the popularity of areas such as Venice has increased this year.
Speaking to AFP, he stated that the region was attracting people of many different nationalities, such as Americans and Russians.
This is likely to be highly beneficial to owners of holiday accommodation in the area, as many will have bought property in order to earn rental income from holidaymakers.
The strong demand for a temporary residence was highlighted by Mr Durica, who said that the number of nights that people stayed in Venice went up this year.
He stated that between January and October 2007, 8.7 million visitors spent at least one night in the area, up from 8.2 million for all of 2006.
According to MyHoliday.com, the popularity of self-catering holidays has grown significantly in the last few years, particularly in countries such as Italy.
