People from the UK are increasingly moving to countries such as Italy in order to improve their quality of life, according to a new study.
NatWest found that the country was rated very highly by Britons who have moved there on a permanent basis.
Expats praised features such as the quality of public services, housing and accommodation, weather and healthcare provision.
In addition, Italy was said to offer a range of cultural attractions and leisure facilities, as well as good standards of cleanliness.
The research also showed that most expats believed their lives had changed for the better as a result of their move.
Nine in ten people said they happier overseas, while a similar proportion stated that they were financially better off and healthier.
The Office for National Statistics recently revealed that during 2006, more than 200,000 UK citizens chose to leave the country and live abroad.
