Italy recommended to second home buyers

Overseas property buyers are being encouraged to consider purchasing a residence in Italy.

ShelterOffshore.com praised the European country for offering a wide variety of attractions to second home owners.

Italy's natural attractions were rated very highly, including its "fabulous" climate and "stunningly beautiful" landscapes.

However, prospective buyers were also that the country boasts many other attributes including a rich history and cultural heritage, as well as excellent food and drink.

ShelterOffshore added that with recent changes to the tax regime effectively cutting the price of property, it could be an ideal place in which to make a purchase.

The website commented: "There is of course literally no denying the appeal of Italy from a property buyer's perspective."

Tuscany and Umbria were highlighted as particularly good areas for second home buyers to consider, as they are "picture postcard perfect".

Italy was recently found to be one of Britons' top five overseas property destinations by A Place in the Sun magazine.
