Italy recommended to investors

Overseas property investors have been advised to consider purchasing a residence in Italy.

According to NuBricks.com, the European country has a global reputation for offering excellent food and wine.

Citing a study by Expedia.co.uk, the website said this has led to many holidaymakers flocking to Italy in order to sample its delicacies first-hand.

NuBricks.com remarked: "When in Rome do as the Romans do - well this seems to have been taken quite literally."

Since Italy is carving out a new niche in the holiday industry, the website believes this could be good news for overseas property buyers.

The online portal said the growing popularity of "gastro-tourism" has opened up a new market for foreign investors.

According to Alison Couper of Expedia.co.uk, this trend shows that Britons are becoming increasingly adventurous when travelling.

She added that consumers are becoming very dedicated to "immersing themselves" in home-grown food.
