Italy 'still a hit for weddings'

Italy is one of the most popular destinations for Britons keen to marry overseas, it has been claimed.
A recent study by market research firm Mintel indicated that 16 per cent of British marriages currently take place abroad, reports propertyshowrooms.com.
Director of overseas weddings firm Marry Abroad Charlotte Hand noted that Italy is a top choice due to its unique atmosphere and scenery, which may be of note to those with property in the country
She stated: "Italy is one of the most visited countries in terms of hits on our site - it is a fantastically romantic country and real backdrop to any wedding."
Other places cited by Ms Hand as popular destinations for nuptials included Spain, Thailand and the Caribbean.
It was recently reported that an area in southern Italy is currently experiencing a property boom.
Windrush Alliance recently unveiled Portoada Park in Calabria – a region which is rivalling some of the country's more famous property hotspots.
