Well-off Britons leave UK behind
Monday July 14th , 2008

People from well-off commuter towns in the UK are increasingly choosing to live abroad full-time, an expert has said.
Paul Arthur, director of The Emigration Group, stated that the desire to move overseas is particularly strong in affluent areas such as Cheshire.
Speaking to the Chester Chronicle, he attributed this trend to the ongoing downturn in the British economy, which has led to the cost of living in the UK going up in recent months.
Mr Arthur commented: "Middle England is on the move and quality of life is the main driver."
He added that in the last six months, thousands of email enquiries from prospective expats have been received by the group.
The highest proportion of these were said to have come from people in Cheshire, who were described as The Emigration Group's "biggest client base".
According to removals firm Allied Pickfords, the number of people from the UK choosing to move to foreign shores is now at record levels.
