Increasing numbers of Brits are seeking to holiday in countries within a three-hour flight of Britain, a travel expert suggests.
Jonathan Cudworth, head of product marketing at the travel firm Expedia.co.uk, says that while holidays are still important to the public, people are becoming increasingly price-conscious due to the recession.
He commented: "There are a number of ways Brits can keep their holiday costs down and small tweaks to your holiday plans can help to get you the best value for money."
A lifestyle study from the market research firm Mintel suggests that Britons have spent around 61 per cent on holidays over the last decade, renting property in the likes of Italy, Spain and Turkey.
The report also finds that consumers splashed out nearly £60 billion on travel in 2008 alone.
International Property Awards in association with Google and Bloomberg Television have awarded MASA Internaitonal the Best Estate Agency in Spain award.
