A Scottish couple who left the UK for a retirement in the sun in Turkey have praised their new way of life.
The Sunday Mail reports that Anne and Brian Wardleworth moved to the Mediterranean country two months ago.
After visiting a property exhibition near their home in Aberdeenshire, they decided to go on an inspection trip to Turkey to search for their perfect seafront retirement home.
Mr Wardleworth told the newspaper: "The prices of property in Turkey seemed reasonable and we were very impressed. The plans of houses we were shown looked like what we had in mind."
The couple eventually decided on a two-bedroom penthouse in Alanya with sea-facing balconies and a private rooftop solarium.
All furniture and white goods were included in the price of £65,000 and residents in the complex have use of a large pool and nearby restaurants.
Meanwhile, Turkey has been singled out as a top holiday destination this year by a travel expert.
According to Frances Tuke of the Association of British Travel Agents, the country is set to be one of the "big growth areas" in global tourism in 2009.
International Property Awards in association with Google and Bloomberg Television have awarded MASA Internaitonal the Best Estate Agency in Spain award.
