Expats in Turkey attend first aid classes

Expats living in Bodrum, Turkey, have been attending classes on first aid, the Hurriyet Daily News reports.

According to the newspaper, around 60 British, German, Dutch and Belgian residents took theory and practical courses on what to do in a medical crisis.

Emergency room doctor Sabri Atalay, who held the sessions, told the newspaper that the number of foreign residents in Bodrum was now over 4,000.

Dr Atalay added: "Our essential aim is to inform those foreign residents about how they should be acting in a medical emergency until paramedics arrive.

"Some very simple information that can be implemented by anybody can draw a line between life and death. We just wanted to give this basic information to the attendees."

The seminars are expected to continue for those living in nearby towns.

Meanwhile, it has been predicted that the next few years will see a new big property boom in Turkey,.

According to the Nour Group, interest in the Turkish property market is intensifying because it is currently averaging 40 per cent returns, while the rest of Europe floats at around five per cent growth.
