Turkey is reportedly emerging as a hotspot for medical tourists, something which may boost property in the nation.
A recent report in the Hurriyet suggests that as people are increasingly watching what they spend, the low cost of Turkish healthcare is attracting a growing number of Europeans.
Speaking to the news provider, Dr Dursun Aydin, president of the Association of Improving Health Tourism, states that people from the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Belgium and France are all flocking to Turkey for treatments.
"Europeans prefer Turkey mostly for plastic surgery, in vitro fertilisation, dental treatment and laser eye surgery. These surgeries cost an average of 5,000 euros in Europe. In Turkey, the average cost for such surgeries varies between 500 to 900 euros," he says.
The newspaper also suggests that people are opting for healthcare in Turkey due to the vacation opportunities available following recovery.
It was recently reported by the Board of Statistics that Turkey's tourism revenues increased 18.5 per cent in 2008 compared to the previous year.
