British golfers 'choose Spain'
Tuesday March 18th , 2008

Britons choose Spain above most other countries when it comes to playing golf overseas, it has been stated.
Citing previous research by Fly Monarch, the airline's scheduled division managing director Liz Savage confirmed that Spain and Portugal were the two most-popular playing destinations for those who enjoy the sport in foreign climes.
People's love for golf may be a consideration for those buying property in Spain as locations close to major golf courses could increase interest in their developments.
Ms Savage's reminder of Spain's popularity among the British golfing community came as Fly Monarch announced that it is the official airline partner for two European golf shows in 2008.
"Research that we conducted in 2007 has proven golf as one of the leading hobbies for Monarch customers, which is reflective of the destinations to which we fly throughout Europe," said the managing director.
The Costa del Sol, one part of Spain that regularly sees Britons purchase property, has around 70 different golf courses to choose from.
