Spain is proving to be a highly popular location among British holidaymakers, new research has revealed.
According to Price Runner, cities in the European country account for 40 per cent of this year's top 20 holiday destinations.
The price comparison website said it is a "real winner" because it is an affordable place to visit, even with the strong euro.
Indeed, figures show that prices in Spain are three per cent below the international average.
Therefore, Mattias Berg of PriceRunner has suggested that people take exchange rates into account when booking a holiday.
He commented: "By doing your research before travelling, you'll discover which countries and cities offer the best value for money."
The Spanish Costas were identified as one of the main hotspots for Britons, in particular Malaga and Alicante.
A recent study by Insurance.co.uk found that Spain is the most popular destination for British parents who are taking their children overseas, while it is also a hotspot for those over the age of 60.
