British weather prompts Spanish property purchases

Poor weather is increasingly prompting people in the UK to purchase a Spanish residence, it has been revealed.

According to the American Chronicle, Spain is currently the most popular destination among foreign property buyers in Britain.

This was said to because it offers a variety of attractions, such as good transport links with home, pleasant scenery and good food.

However, Spain's favourable climate was flagged up as one of the most important factors which is tempting property buyers to the nation.

"This is hardly surprising, as the country offers a welcome respite from the bleak London weather," the American Chronicle commented.

The publication added that since Britain is far more prosperous than it used to be, more people in the country are taking up the option of buying a second home abroad.

According to a survey by the Metro, the UK's relatively poor climate is also fuelling migration to foreign shores.

Almost half of all expats polled by the newspaper said they left Britain in search of higher temperatures.
