Britons opting to move abroad

Two British newspapers have outlined the reasons why many Britons are choosing to move to countries such as Spain.

According to the Sun, living in the UK has become a "bleak experience" for some, especially as it offers relatively poor weather.

The newspaper stated that about 5.5 million Britons are now understood to be living abroad, mainly in sunnier climes.

However, the Sun added that financial issues are also having an impact, such as rising living costs and the consequences of the credit crunch.

A similar theme was picked up by the Telegraph, which said the growing tax burden and cost of living is prompting more and more people to look at leaving the country.

"It's hardly surprising many British homeowners are seriously thinking of selling up and moving overseas," it commented.

The newspaper added that people's money could often go a lot further in a less-expensive country.
