Britons 'seek better lifestyle abroad'

Many people are choosing to set up home overseas in order to improve their quality of life, an expert has stated.

Paul Beasley, editor of Emigrate magazine, said that a growing number of consumers in the UK believed that life in Britain was becoming more stressful.

Speaking to Homes Worldwide, he stated that a desire to escape the crowded streets and buildings at home had prompted more and more people to set up home overseas.

Mr Beasley added that many foreign countries were seen to offer the lifestyle attractions and benefits that people craved.

He commented: "People want to be able to enjoy a healthier and more active lifestyle with the benefit of good weather, beaches and plenty of outdoor space."

This comes after the Office for National Statistics revealed that during 2006, more than 200,000 UK citizens chose to leave the country and live abroad.

Spain was found to be one of the most popular destinations among those opting to leave Britain permanently.
