Britons 'to spend Christmas in Spain'
Tuesday December 11th , 2007

Many Britons are planning to travel to Spain for the festive season, according to new research.
A study by the Post Office revealed that about 2.4 million people were planning to leave the UK and spend Christmas and New Year's Eve overseas.
Spain was identified as the most popular destination for festive holidaymakers, attracting almost one in five people.
The Post Office stated that Britons were leaving the country in order to spend the holiday season in a warmer climate, as the weather at home was "depressing".
In addition, it said that the rise in cheap flights had made foreign travel a much more affordable option.
Gary Fitton, director of lending at the Post Office, commented: "For many people, going abroad for Christmas is a great way to relax and not have to worry about cooking Christmas dinner."
According to the Association of British Travel Agents, many people who travel to Spain at this time of year will spend the festive season in their holiday home.
