Census reveals diverse Malaga population
Wednesday January 16th , 2008

Results of a recent census in the town of Coin have revealed the diverse nature of communities in Malaga province.
According to southern Spanish newspaper Sur, foreign nationalities now make up 21 per cent of the population in Coin, which is located about 20 miles west of Malaga city.
With 800 more people of non-Spanish nationality now registered in Coin than 12 months ago, the local town hall has described the number as "significant" and views it as evidence that the area is becoming increasingly popular with European property buyers.
The largest non-Spanish group identified by the census is British, with the number of UK people living in Coin increasing by 275 since last year. A total of 64 different nationalities were found by the survey, with Moroccan, Romanian and German people all well-represented.
Coin has become an attractive location for foreign property buyers by offering close proximity to some of the Costa del Sol's most popular coastal areas while retaining the authentic atmosphere of a traditional Spanish town.
The beaches of Malaga and Marbella are only 25 minutes away from Coin, with major tourist resorts such as Fuengirola and Benalmadena also close by.
