Educated Britons moving abroad

Many qualified professionals from the UK are choosing to move abroad, new research has revealed.

A study by the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) revealed that more than a million highly-skilled graduates have relocated overseas.

This means over one in ten are leaving the country, which is a higher proportion than in most member of the international body.

Although English-speaking countries were said to have attracted a large number of qualified Britons, destinations such as Spain were also found to be one of the main destinations for this demographic.

Commenting on the findings, Danny Sriskandarajah of the Institute for Public Policy Research stated that the trend was manageable as many skilled immigrants are arriving in the UK.

He said: "If they stop coming then that would be a problem."

According to currency specialist HiFX, the amount of interest in moving overseas went up by almost a quarter last year.
