Expats feel healthier overseas

Most people who have relocated overseas feel healthier as a result of their move, according to a new study.

Research by NatWest found that more than two-thirds of people feel better living abroad than they did in the UK.

However, the firm said the amount an individual country spends on healthcare provision did not influence the findings, as they are largely based on people's own perceptions of their quality of life.

Spain was rated particularly highly by expatriates, with nearly nine out of ten respondents saying they feel healthier.

Meanwhile, almost two-thirds of those who have set up home in Italy said their new lifestyle had improved their physical condition.

Commenting on the findings, David Isley of NatWest said: "It seems as if expats have not only found their pot of gold abroad but are able to enjoy themselves and feel healthier."

This comes after NuBricks.com stated that British expats who move to Spain could enjoy a lower cost of living in their new home.
