Expats praise Spanish lifestyle

Spain has been praised by two British expatriates who live reside in the country permanently.

Eric Warren told BBC News that he had enjoyed a "brilliant" life since he moved from Leeds to the Costa Blanca in 2001.

He said he particularly enjoyed the good weather and was tempted to move there full-time after an extended stay.

Speaking to the BBC News website, Mr Warren commented: "We came over at first for a six-month stint - but within three weeks we'd bought a house and we set up home."

The country was also praised by Newcastle-born Ann Eagle, who said her quality of life had improved since moved to Spain

She added since the country was well-connected to the UK, it was easy to stay in reach of friends and relatives at home.

According to currency specialist HiFX, the amount of interest in moving overseas went up by almost a quarter last year.
