Irish book summer holidays early
Thursday January 24th , 2008

A large number of Irish people are booking holidays early in order to avoid missing out, a newspaper has revealed.
The Meath Chronicle stated that last summer's torrential rain led to a surge in the amount of demand for trips to sunnier destinations.
However, this meant that many of those who had intended to wait to book a cheap deal at the last minute ended up missing out completely.
According to the newspaper, people in Ireland are much less willing to take a chance of snapping up a late bargain and are booking their summer holidays now.
The Meath Chronicle commented: "Last summer's dismal weather and an equally miserable January, has led to a rush of early holiday bookings."
Travel agents who spoke to the publication identified Spain as one of the most popular destination among Irish consumers
This comes after official figures from the UK showed that the number of Britons visiting Spain has gone up in the last few years.
