Irish plan summer holidays to Spain
Monday December 31st , 2007

Many Irish consumers are booking their summer holidays to Spain early this year, it has emerged.
Budget Travel stated that the poor weather during summer 2007 had led to a rush of people booking last-minute breaks abroad.
However, the exceptionally high demand at this period meant that not everybody was able to get a place, forcing them to stay at home in the rain.
This, the firm added, has resulted in many Irish people planning ahead in order to avoid going through a similar situation this year.
Clem Walshe, head of marketing at Budget Travel, told the Irish Independent: "People definitely got caught out last summer.
"A lot of people couldn't get the holiday they wanted."
Mr Walshe highlighted the Costa del Sol and Salou as two of the most popular Spanish destinations, along with Majorca and the Canary Islands.
Earlier this month, Limerick Travel revealed that a record number of people from Ireland were spending Christmas overseas.
Tony Brazil, director of the firm, told the Limerick Post that many of these were heading to countries such as Spain in order to stay in their foreign property.
