A growing number of foreign nationals are choosing to set up home in Spain, it has been reported.
According to the Typically Spanish website, the number of expatriates who now reside in the country has exceeded four million for the very first time.
Citing figures from the National Statistics Institute, the news provider revealed that as of March this year, 4,192,835 foreigners had Spanish residency permits.
About four in ten people were said to come from other countries in the European Union, such as the UK, Italy and Bulgaria.
However, one in three expatriates were found to hail from Latin America, while a fifth of foreign residents were born in Africa.
In terms of nationality, Moroccans accounted for the largest group of immigrants from a single country, with more than 675,000 living in Spain on a permanent basis.
This comes after the Telegraph stated that the growing desire to live abroad among many British people is showing no signs of abating.
