More holidaymakers head to Spain
Friday February 22nd , 2008

Authorities in Spain have revealed that the country attracted an increased number of holidaymakers last month.
According to official government data, 2.8 million people visited Spain during January 2008, reports Thomson Financial.
This is 0.9 per cent up on the figure recorded during the same month of the previous year a sign of positive growth in the Spanish tourist trade.
The findings suggest that Spain will have experienced greater demand for tourist accommodation as a result of the extra visitors.
As a result, owners of rental properties in the country could be benefiting from higher returns and occupancy rates.
The interest in Spain was found to not be confined to the mainland, as nearly one in three people chose to spend their holidays in the Canary Islands.
According to official data, the country attracted a total of 59.2 million foreign travellers last year.
