New flights to boost Spanish rental market

Rental investors in Spain could be set to witness a surge in occupancy rates after the country is opened up by new flights.

British Airways has confirmed that new routes to a number of different Spanish destinations will be added to its timetables this year.

The airline will offer flights from Gatwick Airport to Malaga, Alicante and Palma, as well as Ibiza.

In addition, services to Malaga will be launched from Heathrow Airport ahead of the peak holiday season.

This is a welcome development for investors in these areas, as the new flights should attract a considerable number of extra visitors.

As a result, demand for rental accommodation will increase and generate higher returns for property owners.

This comes after the launch of direct flights to Malaga from Manchester Airport by low-cost airline easyJet.

According to the carrier, the service was introduced in response to strong demand for budget flights from consumers in the north-west.
