Budget airline Ryanair has launched a new service from Leeds Bradford airport to Barcelona.
The service will operate four times weekly to Girona Barcelona airport which is around an hour's drive from Barcelona, meaning that tourists have easy access to both the city and the Pyrenees Mountains.
To celebrate the launch, Ryanair gave the first two passengers to check in for the debut flight a pair of free Ryanair tickets to the destination of their choice.
Tony Hallwood, commercial and aviation direct at Leeds Bradford airport, said: "We are delighted to see the start of these new services with Ryanair.
"Their popularity is testament to the huge demand for low-cost air travel in Yorkshire."
From October 28th, a new route to Alicante will also be operating from the airport.
In related news, Stansted airport has won approval to carry 35 million people a year, a ten million increase on last year.
The airport is now allowed to run 264,000 flights a year, up from 70,000 from 2007.
