Spain has praised for its efforts in implementing more environmentally-friendly practices.
According to the Guardian, the country's lucrative tourism industry has come at a big environmental cost, especially as it partly relies on carbon-emitting aircraft.
However, the newspaper has stated that it is become more conscious of the impact it is having on the planet and is taking positive measures as a result.
For example, it is aiming to save fuel by cutting speed limits to 50 mph, while a cap on winter heating is also being discussed.
In addition, authorities are also looking at imposing limits on how much air conditioning can be used in public buildings during the summer.
The Guardian commented: "Long sought out for its heat, Spain is suddenly playing a noble role in keeping the world as a whole cool."
Earlier this week, Sur reported that Pablo Ruiz Picasso airport in Malaga has just experienced its busiest weekend of the year.
