Spain popular with British holidaymakers

Spain is continuing to be the first-choice holiday destination for many Britons this summer, it has been revealed.

According to Cheapflights.co.uk, traditional tourist hotspots in Europe are remaining very popular with holidaymakers in the UK.

This is despite the fact that the value of the pound against the euro has fallen by about a fifth in the last year, a development which has forced up the cost of travelling to places such as Spain.

However, these financial concerns are apparently not a deterrent to many British leisure travellers, who are choosing to visit the country anyway.

The poll found that Tenerife is the main summer hotspot among Britons, while Alicante in the Costa Blanca came third in a list of the top ten.

This placed it just ahead of Malaga, a resort in the Costa del Sol.

A recent study by Insurance.co.uk found that Spain is the most popular destination for British parents who are taking their children overseas, while it also a hotspot for those over the age of 60.
