Spain's economy is benefiting significantly from the growth of golf tourism, a media outlet has stated.
Homes Worldwide revealed that golf tourism is one of the fastest growing parts of the Spanish holiday industry.
The sector is currently generating about 10 billion a year and is leading to the creation of new wealth-generating developments.
For example, new leisure outlets such as spas and restaurants are being built in the vicinity of leading golf courses.
Furthermore, hotels and holiday homes are also being created, a development which has attracted foreign investors to the country.
Homes Worldwide said: "Many of these golf resorts are attracting keen golfers [and] people seeking holiday homes, as well as investors."
Britons choose Spain above most other countries when it comes to playing golf overseas, it has been stated.
The comments follow research by Fly Monarch which revealed that Spain is one of the most popular destinations for golf-loving holidaymakers.
