Spanish rail upgrades on track

Upgrades to Spain's transport network are proceeding according to plan, a British newspaper has revealed.

The Telegraph reports that the planned high-speed rail link between Madrid, Barcelona and France will be up and running by March.

This should significantly reduce journey times between these locations and potentially make places along the line more desirable places to live.

Spain's high-speed rail network already allows people to travel from Madrid to Malaga in just two and a half hours, while Segovia can be reached in 35 minutes.

The newspaper commented: "Better rail and domestic services mean it is now much easier to explore the far reaches of Spain."

Improvements to the accessibility of many Spanish towns and cities will be likely to have an effect on its property market, as it could potentially boost demand.

Spain was recently identified as the most popular foreign market with British property investors in a poll by A Place in the Sun magazine.
